New EVs Arriving This Year
New Evs make up only about a tiny fraction of today’s car market, but the options are multiplying rapidly as battery tech improves and manufacturers add more models to their lineups. Shoppers looking for an electric vehicle have plenty of choices, including several new ones that have just arrived this year.
Kia’s EV3 was a concept last year and arrives in 2024 as a practical, relatively affordable compact EV that will be “joyful to drive.” It resembles a cut-down version of the EV9 we picked in our 2023 Best Evs list, with a pushed windscreen, robust squared wheel arches and disconnected C pillar.
New EVs: Advancements in Electric Vehicle Technology
Chevrolet’s budget Bolt EUV is dead, but the company has a replacement in store: The all-new 2024 Blazer EV, which will share its Ultium platform with the Equinox EV and Cadillac Lyriq. It will offer LT and RS trims with dual-motor AWD, an 85-kWh battery that delivers up to 279 miles of range and DC fast-charging capability at up to 150 kW.
Toyota is adding a pickup truck to its EV offerings, with a 2024 model based on the upcoming Tacoma. It will be the brand’s first electric pickup and will use a powertrain from Mercedes-Benz’s Maybach luxury sub-brand.
The long-awaited GMC Sierra EV will arrive this fall as an upscale and well-equipped midsize electric SUV. It’ll have 754 hp and two-motor AWD in top-spec Denali Edition 1 form and will start at over $100,000.
