New EVs Arriving This Year

New Evs

New Evs make up only about a tiny fraction of today’s car market, but the options are multiplying rapidly as battery tech improves and manufacturers add more models to their lineups. Shoppers looking for an electric vehicle have plenty of choices, including several new ones that have just arrived this year.

Kia’s EV3 was a concept last year and arrives in 2024 as a practical, relatively affordable compact EV that will be “joyful to drive.” It resembles a cut-down version of the EV9 we picked in our 2023 Best Evs list, with a pushed windscreen, robust squared wheel arches and disconnected C pillar.

New EVs: Advancements in Electric Vehicle Technology

Chevrolet’s budget Bolt EUV is dead, but the company has a replacement in store: The all-new 2024 Blazer EV, which will share its Ultium platform with the Equinox EV and Cadillac Lyriq. It will offer LT and RS trims with dual-motor AWD, an 85-kWh battery that delivers up to 279 miles of range and DC fast-charging capability at up to 150 kW.

Toyota is adding a pickup truck to its EV offerings, with a 2024 model based on the upcoming Tacoma. It will be the brand’s first electric pickup and will use a powertrain from Mercedes-Benz’s Maybach luxury sub-brand.

The long-awaited GMC Sierra EV will arrive this fall as an upscale and well-equipped midsize electric SUV. It’ll have 754 hp and two-motor AWD in top-spec Denali Edition 1 form and will start at over $100,000.

The Jaguar E-Type – More Than Just a Pretty Face

etype jaguar buids

If there is one Jaguar model that has a hugely dedicated following it’s the E-Type. Mention it to anyone with a love for classic cars and they will most likely say it’s one of the most beautiful ever made.

However the E-Type isn’t just a pretty face. Behind the skin it boasts a level of technical sophistication that shocked its contemporaries when it first appeared.

Engineer Bill Heynes had developed a racing version of the old XK six and after the 1956 season it was decided to make a road car from it. The key challenge was ensuring that the new car would not only be capable of matching the Ferraris it faced in the Le Mans races but also comply with stringent US safety and emissions requirements. E-Type Restomods: Marrying Classic Elegance with Modern Performance

The resulting Series 1 cars came in two body styles; a Drop Head Coupe and a Fixed Head Coupe. They were powered by a 3.8 litre version of the XK engine producing 265 bhp at 6,000 rpm.

As well as reducing the weight of the car by the use of unique aluminum panels they used a low drag hood and perspex windows to cut down on wind resistance. This combined with a stripped interior and lack of exterior chrome helped them weigh in at around 250 pounds less than a standard E-Type.

In addition to the 4.2 litre engine the’missing six’ Lightweights were fitted with a stronger Jaguar all synchromesh gearbox making driving them much more refined and less demanding. The result was a series of accomplished grand tourers that can be kept quiet and civilized or transformed into neck straining’muscle cars’ when required.

Most of these circle lenses are also referred to as “big eye” or “Korean” contacts due to the oversized appearance they give. These contacts can be worn for a long period of time and do not require periodic prescriptions, making them extremely flexible.

While circle lenses may be safe for use by patients with corrective vision needs, they should be used under proper care and only by an ophthalmologist or optometrist. They should not be shared with others and a thorough cleaning and storage routine should be followed to ensure they remain safe and effective. A proper fitting is essential for optimum vision correction and comfort, as ill-fitted contacts can cause pain and discomfort.
